End of Week 6: Carpentry Done

Workmanship is really good.

The carpenter finished installing the cabinets in the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. We didn't need much carpentry because we kept the existing wall-to-wall wardrobe in the guest bedroom. We're going to clean up the wardrobe doors and change the handles and hinges. Part of "being green" - Re-use.

The tiler came back to build the cement benches in the living and dining rooms. We used bricks as bench support so we have a consistent design with the brick feature wall. The top is in cement screed like the balcony floor. The benches look really sturdy, and are a great design element to tie both rooms together.

Ironman stopped by too (called An Meng, not Robert Downey Junior). He replaced the old-fashioned white grille gate with a slicker grey "mild steel" version. A welcoming addition. Unfortunately, the staircase railing was welded incorrectly with too many rails so he has to come back next week.

Next week, we will start on building the remaining feature walls, painting the second coat and installing appliances and bathroom fixtures.
